A US special operation in northern Syria was thwarted by militants who attacked US helicopters.

The United States almost suffered heavy losses in northern Syria while trying to capture one of the supporters of the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia - ed.). As it became known to the journalists of the news agency Avia.pro, during the attempt of the US military to land troops, the helicopters were subjected to heavy fire from the terrorists, in connection with which the original plan of the operation had to be drastically changed.

“The US military tried to parachute from one of the helicopters, however, they encountered resistance from the militants and were forced to retreat”, - a source of the Avia.pro news agency reports.

It is noteworthy that at that time there were also two US Air Force fighter jets and one attack drone flying over Manbij in the sky. Judging by the fact that the operation was nevertheless carried out, it is likely that the landing from helicopters was carried out again, but already at a distance from the initial point, where, most likely, significant militant forces were located, which almost led to serious losses for the United States.
