Egypt is considering buying Russia's Sula radar to track nuclear launches

Egypt is interested in buying the Russian Sula radar.

The newest Russian radar station "Sula", designed to monitor the sector of outer space, in order to detect even small objects, has interested Egypt in terms of possible tracking of nuclear ballistic missiles. According to sources, Egypt is considering the possibility of acquiring a unique Russian radar with a view to its subsequent deployment in the country.

According to an Avia.pro source, at the moment the issue of purchasing the Russian Sula radar station is being considered by the Egyptian defense department and the country's authorities, however, it is expected that if a positive decision is made, negotiations will begin with Russia.

To date, it is known that the Sula radar at a distance of 1,5 thousand km is capable of detecting objects with an effective scattering area (ESR) of 0,01 square meters. m. With increasing range, the ability to detect smaller objects for obvious reasons is reduced, however, as experts say, this is quite enough to detect spacecraft and nuclear ballistic missiles.

To date, only Israel owns nuclear weapons in the region, in connection with which there are quite a lot of suspicions that Egypt is considering a potential conflict with the Israeli side.
