EW complex shot down a British drone between the coast of Syria and Cyprus

A British Watchkeeper drone has been shot down in the eastern Mediterranean.

A British multipurpose Watchkeeper WK450 unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down by an electronic jamming system between the coast of Cyprus and Syria. According to preliminary data, during the flight, the unmanned aerial vehicle experienced a failure of on-board systems, as a result of which the latter fell into the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the news agency Avia.pro, the British multi-purpose reconnaissance drone Watchkeeper WK450 took off from the Akrotiri naval base and headed for the eastern Mediterranean Sea. During the flight, the drone unexpectedly experienced a failure of the control systems due to the loss of contact with the operator, as a result of which the drone fell into the water. According to preliminary data, the cause of everything was a powerful electronic impact. Moreover, this is the second British Watchkeeper WK450 drone lost in the area over the past month.

At the moment, it is known that in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, between the coast of Syria and Cyprus, there is a powerful electronic disturbance. In particular, we are talking about problems with the operation of the global positioning system and a number of signals. This has been recorded in this region over the past two months, due to the work of a powerful electronic warfare system. The last time the British military lost a Watchkeeper WK450 drone in the area was in May of this year, while the investigation into the circumstances of the crash is still ongoing, however, the reasons are still the same.
