The President of Kazakhstan called the DPR and LPR fake states and said that he did not recognize them

The President of Kazakhstan officially announced the non-recognition of the DPR and LPR as independent states.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, officially announced that his country does not consider the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics to be independent states and Kazakhstan does not plan to consider the issue of recognizing these states. According to Tokayev, the LPR and DPR are quasi-states (not real states).

According to Tokaev, this applies not only to the DPR and LPR, but also to other countries that are trying to exercise their right to self-determination, incl. South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Kosovo, etc.

“It has been calculated that if the right of nations to self-determination is actually realized on the globe, then instead of 193 states that are now members of the UN, more than 500 or 600 states will appear on Earth. Of course it will be chaos. For this reason, we do not recognize either Taiwan, or Kosovo, or South Ossetia, or Abkhazia. And, apparently, this principle will also be applied to quasi-state territories, which, in our opinion, are Luhansk and Donetsk.”, Tokayev said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

It was previously assumed that Kazakhstan might consider recognizing the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, however, apparently, this issue will not even be considered in the coming years.

So far, Donetsk and Luhansk have not made any statements on this matter.
