Passenger Tu-214s will become the main ones in Aeroflot's fleet.

Against the backdrop of sanctions imposed on Russia and Russian air carriers, it became known that the domestic air carrier Aeroflot, which is the largest airline in Russia, decided to switch to the operation of Tu-214 aircraft.

To date, the operation of these passenger airliners is very limited, however, according to the Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev, Aeroflot considers these aircraft as the basic model in the fleet.

“The Russian Tu-214 is one of the models that airlines, including Aeroflot, are also considering as one of the basic models that they will slowly switch to”, - said the Minister of Transport of Russia Vitaly Savelyev.

How many Russian aircraft manufacturers can currently produce Tu-214 passenger airliners is unknown, however, taking into account Aeroflot's need for these aircraft, it will not be possible to fully cover the need for a very long time, however, given the fact that the imposed sanctions threaten to collapse the sector civil air transportation, an increase in production capacity can be made fairly quickly, provided that the production of these aircraft itself does not depend on the supply of foreign components.
